I’ve been consumed by guilty thoughts because of the double fried, naughty Garlic Plantain Tostones I was tempting you with last Tuesday. But, hey… aren’t they GOOD?! That lovely, crispy, salty edge around the chewy, garlicky, secret heart is so difficult to resist… Enough now!
It really is the time for some proper Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice superpower. This will sort my naughty tostones thoughts right away. At least for a while.
Detox can be tasty!
After the great response I got from you guys to my Energising, Detox Green Smoothie I published on 1st of January I thought I’ll put together another easy, and equally tasty detox drink. This time we are talking beets, pomegranate, green tea and lemon juice.
First of all Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice tastes really lovely because both, beets and pomegranate are sweet, juicy and work together really well.
Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice Superpower
Flavour wise the green tea is quite overpowered by these two, but I think that it is necessary for the detox part of things. Lemon enriches and balances the overall flavour, so you are welcome to add more if you feel like you need to.
Secondly, these simple 4 ingredients are the best friends of those who are after replenishing minerals like potassium and manganese, vitamins B, C and fiber. Another super important, if not even more important fact about my Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice, is that the beet pigments that will make you pee in pink (don’t freak out – it’s got nothing to do with blood!) actually are responsible for breaking down toxins in your body, which your liver will love you for very, very much.
On that note, it is also worth to mention that beets help to lower the blood pressure and boost your stamina! Now, I could go over the benefits of pomegranate or green tea again, but if you have followed my blog for a while, you’ll remember that I did put beets and pomegranate together before in Pomegranate and Beet Salad way back in 2015. Also, you can read more about the amazing properties of beets, pomegranate, lemon and green tea in articles linked to each ingredient.
In a way, Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice is garlic, dill and yogurt free version of that salad when it comes to the health benefits part. (By the way: Although, this is a Garlic Free Friday post, feel free to add 1 tbsp of raw garlic to this juice if you feel like you need to. It will only add to Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice superpowers.)
There are 2 ways I suggest to serve the Beet and Pomegranate Detox Juice. If you don’t mind the coarse texture, drink it as it is after simply blending all the ingredients. I somehow can’t quite get over the pomegranate seeds and much more enjoy the purified, juice version.
- 1 cup (8 oz) of raw, peeled beets
- 1 pomegranate fruit - seeds only
- 2 cups green tea
- juice of ½ lemon
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- Blend all ingredients in a food processor or liquidiser. Adjust the flavour with a bit more lemon juice if you need to.
- Using a strainer or a strainer bag, extract the juice from the flesh of the ingredients if you prefer the pure juice.
- Serve the Beet & Pomegranate Detox Juice over ice.
