This is an Emergency Virgin Mary for all those who were hit by an unexpected cold or a virus. Tip one of those straight down your throat and let the raw garlic dissolved into the tomato juice do its job. No time to waste here! Just do it!
Health-Boosting Virgin Mary
Personally, I am not big on raw garlic on its own and can’t think of anyone else who genuinely enjoys chewing on a raw garlic clove either. What I know is that a bit of raw garlic could get you out of trouble because it is the best natural weapon against the common cold and flu symptoms.
There are ways to dress that raw flavour with some simple and familiar ingredients to make it taste better or even transform it into an enjoyable experience.
The power of this simple, health boosting drink lies in allicin, which forms when a raw clove of garlic is crushed. Allicin stabilises best in liquid, hence the tomato juice. I mentioned this few a times in the past, including my Garlic Honey Syrup for a Sore Throat post, which I recommend as an alternative or a supporting, natural medicine.
We all know that having alcohol is not the best idea when you’re not well and this is why my Virgin Mary is 100% alcohol free. Fresh tomatoes and blended with a bit of celery, a clove of raw garlic, honey and lemon juice, plus some optional seasoning like Worcester and Tabasco sauce and a pinch of salt. Pretty simple, but clever and natural way to fight the cold.
