There has been lots of buzz around flavouring chocolate with all sorts of spices and humble vanilla and mint are almost out of fashion. Check out this article for instance. Doesn’t it make your mouth water?! I have decided to add an extra layer of flavour with a spoonful of black garlic paste.
It worked an absolute magic in my recent Black Garlic Chocolate Truffles recipe and I had a sneaky feeling it would do something quite similar to the hot and liquid version! It did and the idea came just in time as the weather has been playing up a bit in Guernsey and it really doesn’t feel as summery as you’d think it should in the first days of August. With the cool wind, persistent drizzle and hardly 17C (63F) a nice cup of black garlic chocolate is an open-arms-welcomed, cheerfully chocolate-rich kick of sweet energy.
Luxury Black Garlic Hot Chocolate is a must try for all chocolate lovers!
When it comes to making your cup of black garlic hot chocolate even more exciting adding a shot of espresso per each cup will transform it into the most amazing mocha. Annnnd a shot of brandy could spin your world in a new direction! You could also go for both as well if you feel you need an extra acceleration to be rocketed through the rest of the day! Whipped cream and marshmallows on top are also always a good idea if you’re not afraid of these few additional calories to deal with later.
I’ve been going on and on about how amazing black garlic is, flavour and health wise, but the way it enhances chocolate is really not to be ignored! I’d go further, my advice to all those who are still unsure about making their first black garlic step: put it in with the chocolate!
