This is so much more than just a Green Detox Smoothie. Anti inflammatory qualities of this easy to put together detox cleanse drink make it also a forerunner in improving the health of your liver. And this is an important step towards improving your metabolism and supporting weight loss. This is a tasty, 5 minute recipe worth saving.
Dear January, will you ever end? One more day and we’re through…
Did you take up on any January challenges?
I decided to lose a few pounds, cut back on alcohol and snacking, and exercise regularly. The cutting back part has been relatively easy, but I only now got to the regular exercise part of my New Year’s resolution. I know that January is at its end… but better late than never, right?!
Yeah… it’s easy to use clever sayings… but I’ve seriously overdone the exercise part of my plan. I can hardly move and my energy levels are at a record low… How could I get it so wrong?! I know that the only way forward is to suffer through it though. And while at it, revisit the curious principles of moderation!
To regain the will to live frankly, and pick myself up a bit, I whizzed up a quick green detox smoothie. It’s really quite tasty and I know it will do me a world of good. Especially, it also contains many anti inflammatory ingredients, which should help to speed my recovery as well.
If you’re also looking for a detox or a body cleanse diet note that, water, exercise (in moderation!) and sleep are your friends. Late nights, no exercise, sugar, meat, dairy, wheat, alcohol and caffeine on the other hand, not so much.
Want to cleanse or detox? Take care of your liver!
Liver is an organ which our body uses to neutralize, transform or get rid of unwanted materials or toxins before they get distributed into the bloodstream.
Be smart and intentional in your choices, that’s all. Give your liver a nice, big, loving hug by choosing foods high in fiber and sulfur, which are instrumental in detox and your liver will take care of the rest. You’ll find that coincidentally, many of the fiber and sulphur rich foods also have anti inflammatory properties.
Tasty Green Detox Smoothie
For my green detox smoothie I picked kale, apple, avocado, pineapple, garlic, walnuts, almond milk, Chia seeds and apple cider vinegar as they are recognised for supporting the liver.
If you’re new to green smoothies, you’ll be surprised how tasty they can actually be! And no, the ingredients don’t have to be all green, but it is important to make them a significant part of your smoothie if you’re thinking of a detox.
- 4 kale leaves or a mixture of spinach and kale
